PROJECT: WATER TREATMENT PLANT BACKWASH SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
OWNER: VILLAGE OF CATSKILL

VALUE: $264,465.00
SCOPE OF WORK:
- Project involved improvements to 2 out 3 existing sludge bays so they were capable of recycling backwash water from treatment plant.
- First stage was to pump out water and remove remaining sludge into #3 sludge bay so other 2 bays could be prepared for improvements.
- Three precast concrete structures were installed, one for monitoring flows, pump station for recycling and manhole for discharge piping.
- Installed a network of piping with stone on bottom of sludge bays and tied into manhole.
- Fabric and sand were installed on top of stone to prepare for a 30 mil liner which was installed to make sludge bays water tight.
- ¼ inch thick fabric was placed above liners for protection and additional pipe and stone were installed and tied into pump station.
- Filter sand was placed above stone to filter water for recycling.
- Total length of project took 60 days for completion.
